Frequently asked questions:
-
Q: Why does the background color of this page keep changing?
-
A: The background color changes with the liturgical season. The current
color is Green signifying the season of Pentecost, which begins fifty
days after Easter Sunday. The day of Pentecost is the day that the
disciples received the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem. The season of Pentecost
is the longest season of the liturgical year, beginning this year on
May 11th, and running through November 29th. Come
celebrate with us.
-
Q: How do I join All Saints'?
-
A: The only membership requirements are to be baptized with water in
the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to attend services
regularly.
-
Q: What is this Book of Common Prayer that you use for the services?
-
A: The Book of Common Prayer (or BCP), with historical roots back to
England in 1549, is the guide book for our various services. Many of
the services are focused around the Eucharist, or Holy Communion. A
copy of the current BCP may be found on line at the Society
of Archbishop Justus web site. They also have copies of earlier
American prayer books from 1789,
1892,
1928, and
the first proposed book for the new church in America from 1786. They
also have copies of the early English prayer books from 1549,
1552,
1559, and
1662.
There are also other historical texts at this
location.
